Old Roots, New Shoots
Music from Scotland's North-East
Old Roots, New Shoots is born out of the north-east of Scotland, an area with a rich history of music and song, renowned for its bothy ballads, traditional music and singers. Old Roots, New Shoots is a collective of musicians exploring how, from the traditional roots of music in the north-east, exciting and progressive new shoots are emerging.
Featuring a diverse array of artists from the region: Old Blind Dogs, Clype, Rick Redbeard, Jenny Sturgeon, Iona Fyfe, Best Girl Athlete and hip-hop artist Jackill will perform re-imaginings of traditional songs as well as new and original work.
Old Roots, New Shoots premiered at Celtic Connections on Friday February 3rd 2017 in Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall followed by a performance at Aberdeen's Lemon Tree on Sunday February 11th.
